Leadership Team
Lewis “L.J.” Lowe IV – Founder & President
Lewis Lowe IV, known as “L.J.,” is the driving force behind the Performance Basketball Institute. Originally from Compton, CA, he was raised with both parents in the home, and grew up in an environment where basketball was more than just a sport—it was a lifeline. As a teenager, he was ranked among the top players in California and invited to elite showcase camps. Playing with Slam-N-Jam, one of the premier AAU programs, he competed alongside and against future legends such as Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Schea Cotton, Baron Davis, Corey Benjamin, Mike Bibby, Eddie House, and Luke and Nate Walton.
“Basketball gave me purpose, direction, and hope. Now, I want the kids at PBI to have the same opportunity to grow, compete, and build lifelong memories.” – Lewis Lowe, Founder & President
Carolyn Lowe – Founder & Director
In August 2025, Performance Basketball Institute LLC officially transitioned into a nonprofit organization, bringing on Carolyn Lowe, LJ’s mother, as a Co-Founder and Director. The nonprofit conversion was made in honor and memory of the late Lewis J. Lowe III, Lewis’s father and Carolyn’s husband, who was an Army veteran and three-time Purple Heart recipient from the Vietnam War.
Lewis III believed deeply in youth sports, discipline, and hard work—values that continue to inspire PBI’s mission today. Carolyn’s background in college education and leadership ensures that PBI not only develops athletes on the court but also instills the character, resilience, and values her late husband stood for.
“As a parent, I watched basketball open doors for my son. Now, I want kids at PBI to experience that same kind of opportunity, while carrying forward the values my husband lived by.” – Carolyn Lowe, Founder & Director
Caleb Lincoln – Assistant Director & Assistant Head Coach
Also joining the leadership team in August 2025 is Caleb Lincoln, a native of Palos Verdes, California. Caleb shares LJ’s belief that basketball is more than competition—it’s a safe haven and a source of community. As Assistant Director and Assistant Head Coach, Caleb plays a vital role in shaping the daily operations of PBI and guiding athletes through their development journey. His focus is on building both skills and character, ensuring that players leave the program prepared for success in sports and in life.
Together, LJ, Carolyn, and Caleb lead PBI with a shared mission: to honor the past while building the future. Rooted in the values of family, discipline, and opportunity, the Performance Basketball Institute is committed to giving Arizona’s youth the same transformative experiences they once found on the hardwood courts of Southern California.
